BIGO LIVE Host Requirements in Canada and the USA: 2026 Checklist

Thinking about becoming a BIGO LIVE host in Canada or the USA? This guide covers all the BIGO LIVE host requirements, how to set up so you look and sound great, and exactly what happens after you send in your application.

BIGO LIVE host requirements: the basics

  • You must be 18 or older

  • A valid government-issued photo ID

  • You live in Canada or the USA (for our North America team)

  • You're comfortable showing your face on camera

  • WhatsApp is preferred, but we can also reach you by text or email

Your streaming setup

  • A quality smartphone with a good front camera

  • Strong, stable wifi, because lag and freezing lose viewers fast

  • A ring light or other lighting so your face is bright and clear

  • A tripod or phone stand so you can stream hands-free

  • A quiet, tidy space you're comfortable showing on camera

You don't need expensive gear to start. A phone, a ring light and a stand are enough for most new hosts.

Setup tips that help you shine

  • Put your light in front of you, never behind you. A window or lamp behind you turns you into a shadow.

  • Keep your phone at eye level on a stand. Looking down at the camera is less flattering and harder to hold.

  • Test your wifi before you go live, and close other apps that use data.

  • Wear something you feel confident in. Solid colours usually look better on camera than busy patterns.

  • Check your background for anything personal, like mail with your address or photos you'd rather keep private.

The personality side

BIGO is all about connection. The hosts who grow fastest are friendly, outgoing and positive, and they genuinely enjoy chatting with viewers. You don't need to be a performer. You just need to be yourself on camera.

What happens after you apply

Here's exactly what joining Honey Hive looks like, step by step:

  1. Apply on our website. It only takes a few minutes.

  2. We reach out by WhatsApp, or by text or email if you don't use WhatsApp. You'll get a short explainer video and a message with your next steps.

  3. Download the BIGO LIVE app and create your account.

  4. Record your audition video using the short script we give you.

  5. Once you pass, you get access to our host training site, and you can ask us anything.

  6. Go live once or twice to get comfortable.

  7. Book a one-on-one call with us to go over everything and plan your next steps.

Is the audition hard?

Not at all. The audition is short and straightforward. We give you a script to say, so you know exactly what to do. Want to feel extra prepared? Read our step-by-step audition guide.

Full-time or part-time: pick what fits your life

Honey Hive hosts can choose between two ways to stream:

  • Monthly hosting program: stream at least 30 hours in the month. Great if you want a regular schedule.

  • Bean Rush: weekly pay based on what you earn, with no hour requirement. Perfect if you're busy, work another job or want to stream part-time.

Learn more in our Bean Rush guide.

Common mistakes new hosts make

  • Streaming in a dark room, so viewers can't see you clearly

  • Going live with no plan for what to talk about

  • Long silences. Keep chatting and greet viewers by name as they join.

  • Streaming at random times instead of building a regular schedule

  • Giving up after a few slow streams. Everyone starts small.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need followers?

No. You don't need a big social media following to apply. If you do have 10k+ followers somewhere, mention it on your application, but it's not required.

Do I have to show my face?

Yes. BIGO LIVE is face-to-face live streaming, so viewers need to see you.

Can I stream part-time or keep my day job?

Yes. Bean Rush has no hour requirement, so you can stream around work, school or family.

Can I stream from just my phone?

Yes. All you need is a good smartphone, lighting, a stand and strong wifi.

Do I pay taxes on what I earn?

Streaming earnings count as income in both Canada and the USA. Keep track of what you earn, and check with an accountant about what applies to you.

Ready to apply?

If you check these boxes, you're ready. Honey Hive Talent is recruiting new BIGO LIVE hosts in Canada and the USA right now, and we'll walk you through every step.
